Sometime during the Winter we tried having little Victor drink from a straw, after making one of Paul's infamous banana (soy) milk concoctions. We had tried it before a few times and he would just chew on the straw or push it away. This time around we dipped both ends on the juice and placed it on his lips. After chewing on it a bit he tried sucking and presto! more juice came out. He really like that and continued sucking on the straw. We got so excited that continued to give him banana milk that afternoon. Little Victor later demonstrated his new skill to his wonderful occupational therapist and friend Beth Fain, who has helped so much with many oral-motor and sensory activities. He has since mastered drinking from a straw all in his own.
